Emphasizing the importance of getting to know the people around you and how it benefits you

This is one of the most important things you can do throughout your life at UWI, they will be your rock, they will be your light, they will be your path to success, whether you like it or not!

So make friends! be sociable!

I might write another blog about the truths about UWI, but here's one:

It is designed to weed out behaviours deemed as barriers to success.

Meaning, if you isolate yourself, you're not likely to be successful, because you won't have the information necessary for you to pass your courses, no matter how studious you are.

Information won't always be passed around efficiently or properly. You'll need to be in contact with your classmates to find out whats going on, the lecturer might only tell 1 - 3 people and instruct them to tell others, so you'll have to socialize with different groups and ensure you inform people whether you think they know or not. This is how the class will succeed, together as one.

No selfish behaviour will be encouraged. Both your instructor and classmates will look down upon you if you seem to be attempting to damage another team members standing, because that's what a class is, like someone in there or not, you're a team and you need to act like one. By the end of the 1st year you will have made life long lasting relationships and you'll come to think of some of these people as family. Becuase they'll be there for you through thick or thin, whether you are on good terms or not, so be the big person and continue the tradition of Unity that UWI teaches.

Heads up though, there's always 1 or 2 schmucks in the class that won't abide by this and usually, there is 1 lecturer who is going to be a pain.
