The Scheduled Email Application Tocker is finally ready for prime time. I've been working on this application over the past few months and its now fully operational. The aim is to allow anyone to be able to visit the app at anytime and set up a scheduled email which they can send to anyone. There were a few very important considerations.
Spam was a very serious concern as i couldn't allow just anyone to create and email and send it off to a bunch of people without them being able to do anything about it. To solve this, when a user enters their email as the sender, they need to verify their email address, this is only a one time step. for subsequent emails, the user need not verify.
Secondly was to allow recipients to unsubscribe from email, in each email there is an unsubscribe link at the bottom which will remove their email from the recipients list.
The scheduling was what took up most of the development time. I went through a number of scheduling strategies ranging from in memory to in database storage of the publishing times. evenutally settled on this schema which will allow for the best reliability and flexibility for the user with future updates. A number of updates are already in the works with regards to scheduling, however those will come in time.
